What you need
- A Solana wallet such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, on desktop or mobile.
- USDC on the Solana network — the amount you want to spend.
- A little SOL — Solana transactions are paid in SOL; fees are usually a fraction of a cent, but your wallet needs a small balance.
Step by step
1. Install a wallet and secure the recovery phrase
Download the wallet only from its official website or app store listing. Write the recovery phrase on paper and store it offline. Anyone with this phrase controls your funds — no support team will ever ask for it.
2. Get USDC and SOL onto Solana
Buy USDC and SOL on an exchange and withdraw both to your wallet address, selecting Solana as the network. Some wallets also let you buy directly with a card.
3. Check that it is the real USDC
Native USDC on Solana has the mint address EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Reputable wallets display it as verified. Tokens that only use the name "USDC" can be fakes.
4. Open the official site and connect
Type the project's domain yourself, then connect your wallet. Connecting only shares your public address; it does not move funds.
5. Review before you sign
Your wallet shows what the transaction will do: which token leaves your wallet, how much and to which address. Compare that address with the one published on the official site. If anything looks unexpected, reject it.
6. Verify the result
After confirmation, open the transaction in a Solana explorer such as Solscan or Solana Explorer and keep the signature (transaction ID). Then check that the purchase appears where the project says it will, for example in a dashboard.
Fees and speed
Solana transactions usually confirm within seconds. The base network fee is very small, and wallets may add an optional priority fee when the network is busy. If a transaction fails, the fee may still be charged — the tokens you tried to send stay in your wallet.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Withdrawing USDC on the wrong network.
- Holding no SOL, so the transaction cannot be paid for.
- Clicking a "presale" link from social media direct messages.
- Signing a request you do not understand, such as one that asks for broad token approval.
- Sharing a recovery phrase with "support".

Do I need SOL to send USDC on Solana?
Yes. Network fees on Solana are paid in SOL, so your wallet needs a small SOL balance even when you only send USDC.
How do I know my USDC is genuine?
Native USDC on Solana uses the mint address EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Check it in your wallet or a block explorer; tokens that only copy the name can be fakes.
Can I send USDC from Ethereum to a Solana wallet?
Not directly. USDC on Ethereum and USDC on Solana live on different networks. Withdraw from your exchange on the Solana network or use a reputable bridge.
What happens if a transaction fails?
The tokens stay in your wallet, but the small network fee may still be charged. Check the transaction in a Solana explorer and try again after confirming the details.
